Also this lip allows for a more secure install for inverted overhead applications. With our pods you are able to screw and caulk to prevent the speaker from falling onto your head. Aftermarket speakers typically have a heavy magnet and when installed upside down if only secured by 4 screws the vibrations from riding off-road or in rough seas stresses and weakens the plastic causing the pod and speaker to fall.
