You don't need a tivo account at all for these older series 3 models anyways. These units aren't really made for streaming show, but rather for recording TV. I have personally serviced this tivo recently.

I upgraded the hardware from the 320 GB to the 500 GB, so it shows a capacity of 662 hours in SD or 76 hours in HD.

When I received this Tivo it wasn't working right, the original 320GB hard drive had failed. I have removed it, and replaced it with a 3TB Western Digital Purple drive (model WD30PURX). I was able to put the correct system image on that drive so the Tivo can use it.
Upgraded 2TB Lifetime Tivo Premiere OTA and/or Cable TCD746500 with remote
When I received this Tivo it was working fine, still had the original 500GB drive in it. I have removed it, and replaced it with a 2TB Seagate Video 3.5 hard drive (Model ST2000VM003). I was able to put the correct system image on that drive so the Tivo can use it.

Selling 2 TiVo Bolt DVR systems: 1 working unit was originally 500GB, 1 broken/for parts was originally 1TB. The broken unit powers on but doesn’t send video. Both units support cablecard or OTA. Both have lifetime that will transfer to the new owner. The original 500GB unit now has the 1TB drive from the broken unit -- the 500GB drive is working and was reinstalled in the original 1TB unit for safe keeping.
